I love to add color to my home with flowers! But, fresh flowers can get expensive, and they never last as long as I’d like. So, I often use artificial flowers to give my decor the added color I want.
Faux flowers have come a long way. With a little bit of searching, you can find some beautiful floral stems that fit perfectly in your home.
I picked up some pink and purple stems recently at Hobby Lobby on their 50% off week. Grabbed some floral cutters and pretty vases, and I had some nice arrangements in no time.
I used some twine on this mason jar for extra interest.
These wire cutters work great for wires in artificial floral stems.
What do you think?
Faux water could be used to make the flowers look even more realistic. Quick Water is a product used for silks to simulate the look of actual water. It hardens and doesn’t yellow, based on reviews. Maybe some day I’ll try it. But, I am pleased with how my flowers look just like this.
Easy and pretty! Now to decide where to put them!
Questions you might have about decorating with fake/ artificial flowers:
Some think that artificial floral stems are ‘too fake’ to add to home decor. BUT, they have come a long way and can really add beauty to a space without all the fuss of trying to keep one more thing alive!
These days, fake flowers can be found in a variety of locations. I have found great success at Hobby Lobby, Michaels (or other craft stores) and even Target.
I would be somewhat skeptical of buying fake flowers online. It’s important to see them in person. Sometimes fake can look a bit too fake.
Fake floral stems do well when placed in floral foam. This keeps them from moving around in the vase or container. A bit of bending of the wire stems might be necessary to ensure they look their best!
