What gift do you buy a woman in their 40s? If you are asking yourself this question, you've come to the right place. As a woman in my 40s, I believe I qualify to write a gift guide for women in their 40s!
This guide is based on things that I love, but also that many of my friends have voiced they love as well. If you are searching for a personal gift for a gal you know, I guarantee you'll find some good ideas in this post!
Gift Guide for Women in Their 40s:
Chances are, you'll get some good ideas for women of ALL ages. You know your gal, so let this gift guide be just that. A guide.
These ideas could easily work for women in their 20s, 30s, 50s, 60s, or beyond! This will be broken into categories, depending on the route you'd like to take when buying your gift.
I'm going to kick off this buying guide with my favorite category!
Cozy, Stay-At-Home Gift Ideas:
I don't think I'm alone in my love for being at home.
There are very few things better than relaxing at home at the end of a long day. If you have an introvert in your life OR simply need a gift for a woman that works hard all day, keep reading. I bet she'll love these gifts to help her relax.
These hygge gifts are sure to be a hit.
If you aren't familiar with the term "hygge" let me share the definition. According to the Cambridge Dictionary, Hygge means: 'a Danish word for a quality of cosiness (=feeling warm, comfortable, and safe) that comes from doing simple things such as lighting candles, baking, or spending time at home with your family'.

A quick word on the above items. I have never tried the Meyer's basil candles, but I am obsessed with the Meyer's Hand Soap in Basil scent. If you are looking for a small add-on item for a gift, that hand soap is heavenly, in my personal opinion!
But back to the candles, my thought is if the candles are half as awesome as the hand soap, you have a winner.
Gift items for the home:
In talking with a girlfriend recently, we discussed the fact that we rarely take the time to replace items we use around the house every single day.
We thought it would be a great idea to have someone throw us a shower after 20 years of marriage. BUT, that's a conversation for another time;-)
Some of my bath towels and dish towels are tattered and embarrassing. If this is the case for the woman in your life, consider these gift ideas:
Let me add, not every woman would be thrilled to get towels or items for baking as gifts. This could get a little touchy.
If I were you, I'd drop some hints to see if she would like something this practical. OR perhaps those would be great "just because" gifts!
Gift ideas for the woman who loves to read:
If the woman you are buying for does not have a Kindle E-reader, I highly recommend this! Books are incredibly personal and based on specific taste.
Because of this, I did not include a book list here. Kindles will allow her to get any reading material she wants for many years to come. It's the gift that keeps on giving.
Something to keep in mind if considering a Kindle - These often go on sale around Black Friday, Christmas, and occasionally other times of the year! So, keep checking back to see if you can get a discounted price.
I had to include a subscription to Magnolia Journal. Who doesn't LOVE JoAnna Gaines!
Gift Ideas for the woman who loves her beverages:
Coffee, tea, wine - take your pick here!
A sampler of single serve coffee pods is great for anyone that loves coffee and wants to be a little adventurous. This is a fun way to try new tastes without a huge commitment.
Please take the time to look at the Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice tea sachets. This might be the best tea I've ever had! If cinnamon is your thing, you will love these.
Also, I had to include these Luxardo maraschino cherries. They are an absolute indulgence! If you try them once, you'll have a hard time not getting them again.
Jason, my husband, usually grabs some at a specialty drink store in our home town, Libations. He adds them to nearly every mixed drink he makes and they are fabulous! Check out Libations. You'll likely find something you love to help make the perfect cocktail.
Costume Jewelry Gift Ideas:
If fine jewelry isn't in the budget, these less expensive jewelry items are something to consider.
Leather earrings have been all the rage for the past several years, thanks in part to Nickel and Suede. I have purchased several from their store directly and I've made a few myself! The ones pictured below are a great price.
Turquoise jewelry is a fun accent that I think looks great with most casual looks.
Leather cuffs add an edgy touch to an outfit! I have the exact cuff that is shown below and love it.
Gift Ideas for the DIY lover:
I would be remiss as a DIY blogger to leave out DIY gift ideas! There are so many tools and supplies that I consider my "go to" DIY favorites. It was a bit challenging to narrow it down to just a few.
But, I've selected several DIY items that I use A LOT. If you are buying for specific DIY projects, feel free to shoot me an email and I'd be happy to help guide you!
Well, that's a wrap!
If you are shopping for someone (or yourself!), I hope you found THE perfect gift.
