Rustic Farmhouse Entry in the Suburbs
I can’t help but laugh to myself as I’m putting this post together this morning. I’m sharing my rustic farmhouse entry from my current home in the suburbs.

Having a “farmhouse” entry is what makes me smile. You see, I grew up on a beef and dairy farm in Missouri, but I now live right in the middle of a suburban neighborhood.
Rustic Farmhouse Entry in the Suburbs:
The childhood farmhouse entry I remember was certainly nothing like what I’m showing you today. The entry to our home was filled with legit farm boots covered in legit cow manure, flannel jackets, coveralls to protect us from the harsh winters, all sorts of heavy winter caps, and stacks of wood for the fireplace.
I cannot recall off-white pillows and upholstered chairs in my childhood rustic, farmhouse entry. But, I love the memories of my home then!
I wouldn’t trade my time living on the farm for anything. There are so many things about that life that have molded me into the person I am today.
From a true farming perspective, my current entryway would not be practical. But in the suburbs, it’s just right, in my humble opinion. It is certainly different than the rustic farmhouse entry I had as a child, but this works for our life now.
Not many cow manure covered boots make their way to our home these days!
Living on a farm gave me a strong sense of practicality. If something isn’t practical or functional in our home, I have a hard time keeping it around just for the sake of looking good.
“Pretty” by itself just doesn’t make sense to me.
Sometimes I have to remind myself, that a little bit of pretty without a purpose is ok. I’m slowly overcoming my practical-to-a-fault personality.

What about you? Are you practical to a fault?
Hopefully you can find a happy medium of practical and pretty that makes your home fit your family. Remember, our goal is to love our REAL life! Don’t strive for a perfect life because you’ll never find it.
I appreciate you sticking around and checking out my blog today. I love a good project, don’t you?
