If you haven’t already done so, it’s time to choose your ONE WORD for the year!  Have you heard of the concept?  A dear friend introduced it to me a couple of years ago.

Choose Your one word for the year.

The idea is to have one word that can apply to multiple, if not all, areas of your life.  In contrast, a New Year’s Resolution only targets a small portion of you.  FOCUS was my word for the year last year.  You can read about that here!

One word can be the guide post for your year

  • How do you want to live each day this year?
  • Where will you put your focus as you strive to reach your goals?
  • What inspires you?
  • What gives you hope for your future?

As you contemplate word options, think about where you are right now in your life. This year will likely be different than the next.  Pick a word that fits your now.

  1. Thank you for the reminder to pause and choose a word. January is zooming by! Maybe the perfectionist in me struggles with choosing just ONE word. I want to CONNECT more intentionally with my teens and tween and hubby (the kindergartener is easy to stay connected too). I love your MOMENTUM word, in terms of blogging and writing. I want to find time to PAUSE to be able to write from a place of health. Obviously need to give this more thought – thanks April!

    1. I always appreciate your insight, Karen! I agree, fitting your entire life into one word can be a bit restraining. BUT, sometimes I need to be reigned in and this helps me do it. In 2017, FOCUS was perfect…I found myself repeating it almost like a mantra with all areas of my life. This year, MOMENTUM works too; Fitness, blogging, my other career, relationships, etc. Best of luck in your word selection!

  2. My word this year is INSPIRE. I want to make sure that whatever I’m doing in daily living is inspiring others and myself.
